ADDICTION

According to the American Psychological Association, addiction is defined as the state of being physically and/or psychologically dependent on substances (alcohol and drugs) or behavioral disorders (internet, gambling, etc.). Lack of control lies at the root of addiction. Although people harm themselves or their environment, they cannot prevent themselves from doing a certain behavior or using a certain substance.

Addiction can be against any pleasurable substance such as alcohol and drugs, or it can be behavioral such as internet and game addiction. Today, the widespread use of computers and mobile phones, especially among young adults, has led to the prevalence of internet and social media addiction, which is a psychosocial health problem. Especially online computer games, which started to be played in childhood, have made digital game addiction an increasing health problem.
